Phillip Ralls

Phillip Ralls is one of the most accomplished reined cow horse trainers and competitors in the United States. Based in Paso Robles, California, Ralls grew up in a horse-training family and was introduced to the sport at an early age, showing his first bridle horse when he was just eight years old. He developed his horsemanship under the guidance of his father, NRCHA Hall of Fame rider Ron Ralls, and respected horseman Harold Farren. 

Over his career, Ralls has become a leading figure in the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), earning more than $1.9 million in lifetime earnings and achieving the distinction of NRCHA Million Dollar Rider. He crossed the million-dollar mark in 2018, becoming the association’s fifteenth rider to reach that milestone. 

Among his most notable accomplishments are:

• 2023 NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman Champion aboard the standout stallion Call Me Mitch. 
• Three-time NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman Reserve Champion. 
• Multiple major championship victories with horses including Call Me Mitch, Dom Dualuise, One Fine Vintage, and Short N Catt. 
• Champion of prestigious events such as the NRCHA Derby Open Bridle, which he won in consecutive years aboard Short N Catt. 

Ralls is widely respected for his ability to develop elite reined cow horses from prospects into champions. His long partnership with Call Me Mitch produced an impressive record that includes the World’s Greatest Horseman Championship, the National Stock Horse Association World’s Richest Horse title, the NRCHA Derby Two-Rein Spectacular Championship, the Magnificent 7 Championship, multiple Open Bridle championships, and a Reserve Champion at The Run For A Million Cow Horse Challenge. 

A devoted family man, Ralls lives on California’s Central Coast in Paso Robles with his wife, Teresa, and their children, Josey and Jackson. His family's support has been an important part of his career, and together they remain deeply involved in the reined cow horse industry and western lifestyle.

Today, Phillip Ralls continues to train, show, and mentor horsemen from his Paso Robles training operation, where he is recognized as one of the premier professionals in the reined cow horse industry.
